A missing tooth can make chewing awkward, change how you speak, or make you less willing to smile in photos. Some people also notice neighbouring teeth drifting into the space over time. At North Street Dental in Glenrothes we look at the whole mouth — not only the gap — before recommending a way forward.
Dental implants
Implants replace the tooth root so a crown, bridge or denture can sit more securely. They are a private treatment option and need assessment of bone, gums and general health. Start with our dental implants page.
Bridges
A bridge uses neighbouring teeth to support a replacement tooth. It can be a good choice in the right situation. We will explain whether those supporting teeth are suitable. See crowns and bridges.
Dentures
Partial or full dentures remain a practical option for many patients, including those who are not suitable for implants or who prefer a removable solution. If a denture feels loose, implant retention may be discussed. See dentures.
Which option is right?
There is no single “best” treatment for every missing tooth. Cost, time, surgery, and how many teeth are missing all matter. Your consultation is there to compare options clearly, including doing nothing in the short term if that is clinically acceptable while you decide.
